Who should attend: All those wishing to enhance their mediation skills and understanding. This course is essential for new family mediators.

Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced

The third course in CLEBC's Family Law Mediation curriculum, this program will give you a better understanding of family dynamics and power in mediation. You will also learn about process design options and have the opportunity to enhance your interview skills through role-play and exercises.

Finally, you will hear about how to document and record sessions, agreements, and memorandums of understanding to give you a better understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution, as well as the role and objectives of a mediator.

For those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act, this is the third of four courses in our 80-hour curriculum.

This course will count for 24 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role-plays in mediation settings.

Please note: This course is offered remotely through a Zoom platform. A device equipped with a camera and microphone will be required to participate.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Family Dispute Resolution, and Family Law Mediation Fundamentals or equivalent training.
