Who should attend: All those wishing to enhance their mediation skills and understanding. This course is essential for new family mediators.
Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate
The second course in CLEBC's Family Law Mediation curriculum, this program will give you a better understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution and the role and objectives of a mediator.
During the three days, participants will analyze mediation theories, review the stages of mediation, learn about family dynamics and screening for family violence, and practice communication skills essential to an effective mediation.
For those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act this is the second of four courses in our 80-hour curriculum.
This course will count for 24 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role-plays in negotiation and mediation settings.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Family Dispute Resolution and Family Violence Screening Training or equivalent training.
Please note: This course is offered remotely through a Zoom platform. A device equipped with a camera and microphone will be required to participate.
