About the Course Chair
Julia Kadow is the Corporate Services Supervisor at Alexander Holburn. She is involved in the support document drafting for all of the major transaction matters for clients including purchasing a business or assets, restructuring of corporate entities and incorporation of new entities.
She provides support for Charities + Non-Profit clients. She is the liaison for the Corporate Commercial practice with the British Columbia Registrar of Companies and with Corporations Canada. She is also a presenter for CLEBC seminars for both lawyers and other legal support staff. Julia also works with the lawyers to review and implement statutory changes that affect their business clients.
She manages the corporate records department in regards to administrative matters, precedent maintenance and work distribution. She has also been the catalyst in the implementation of the electronic records book maintenance system and the setup of protocols for the creation and maintenance of this system.
Julia has two Bachelor degrees from the University of British Columbia: the first in History with a minor in International Relations, the second in Religious Studies with a minor in Classical Studies. She obtained her Paralegal Certificate from Capilano University in 2006.
She has worked in many industries including retail, restaurant and hospitality and most recently, before joining the legal world, she worked for two years for one of the largest mining conglomerates in the world.

About the Faculty
Ryan Howe is a lawyer in the firm’s Business Law Group and a member of the following practice groups: Corporate / Commercial, Mergers + Acquisitions, Corporate Finance + Securities, Wills, Estates + Trusts, Franchise, Cannabis and Real Estate.
Ryan’s focus is providing private business owners of all shapes and sizes with legal solutions for themselves, their families, and their businesses. From advising newly accredited professionals starting their practice to the seasoned entrepreneur, Ryan’s multi-disciplinary practice allows him to assist and advise his clients across the gamut of their legal needs.
He takes pride in building, maintaining and reinforcing long-term relationships with his clients and their referrals, while facilitating business growth for his clients through cross-referrals and guided access to his extensive network.
His clientele appreciates the efficiencies associated with having a trusted advisor who can protect their interests across the full spectrum of legal and non-legal scenarios.
Sam Liang is a lawyer specializing in tax, trust and estate planning. His practice involves personal and corporate tax planning, estate planning and drafting wills and trust. He has extensive experience in corporate reorganizations and corporate transactions.
Sam received his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2010 where he graduated with distinction and was awarded a number of awards including the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society Prize in Corporate Tax and the Alberta Law Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2011.
Sam completed all three parts of the Canadian Institute of Charted Accountants In-Depth Tax Course.
Prior to practicing law, Sam received his Bachelor of Applied Science Chemical Engineering – Chemistry Honours degree from the University of British Columbia in 2003 and worked as a process engineer at Chemetics.
Prior to founding Liang Tax Lawyers, Sam articled at a national law firm in Vancouver and practiced tax law at a national tax boutique (Thorsteinssons LLP) and a local tax boutique (Legacy Tax + Trust Lawyers).
