Who should attend: This advanced discussion of cross-examination techniques is of greatest value to experienced trial counsel.
Learning level: Very advanced
Understanding and using the modern science of cross-examination allows the litigator trained in Chapter Method cross to dominate the trial.
Veteran trial attorney and author, Larry Pozner, teaches the most significant techniques of modern cross-examination. The course discusses the scientific underpinning of how we win cases very early, and why cross-examination is the most efficient path to winning even the toughest trials. Sections of the lecture include the science behind Chapter Method cross-examination, the Chapter Method explained, constructive cross-examination, sequences of cross, page -preparation, and questioning methods that defeat evasive witnesses.
You will learn how to factually dominate the trial with sequences of logically linked leading questions, how we train witnesses in the futility of evasion, questioning techniques that produce honest answers from the opponent's witnesses, and ways to shape the judge's decision long before closing argument.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6.5 hours (this course does not contain professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
