Who should attend: This course will be of interest to litigators, both civil and criminal

Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate

The CLEBC publication, Introducing Evidence at Trial: A British Columbia Handbook made its debut in 2007 and since then has become a trusted resource for criminal and civil litigators in BC. This interactive format course will have practitioners working to solve specially designed problems based on select topics from the handbook. The arrival of this course based on the publication in Oct. 2014 was very well received by members of the litigation bar and was followed by a successful Third Edition in February of 2017. This further iteration of the course will once again quickly bring registrants up to speed on how to manage the most important types of evidentiary problems that they are likely to face in practice.

Learning objectives:

  • learn the principles of four critical areas of the law of evidence: hearsay, statements, real and demonstrative evidence, and electronic evidence
  • test your grasp of the law with our challenging fact pattern problems
  • learn how to argue points of evidence in a trial setting
  • learn practical practice pointers for managing evidence throughout the trial process with the View from the Bench

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 5.5 hours (this course will contain a minimum of .5 hours pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management). Please note: The CPD hours of the rebroadcast will either meet or exceed the CPD hours of the original live webinar course.
