Who should attend: Plaintiff counsel, defence counsel, corporate counsel, in-house counsel, claim managers, senior claims executives, mediators, arbitrators, underwriters, and insurance adjusters

Learning level: Fundamental

This course is CLEBC's primer on the essentials of insurance law. Insurance contracts are not just another type of contract—there are numerous unique features with insurance law contracts: declarations, insuring agreements, definitions, exclusions and conditions, and endorsements.

This course will cover critical elements of insurance contracts, such as the insuring agreement and the rules regarding exclusions. Also covered will be duty to defend and the implications of the tripartite relationship between insurer, insured, and defence counsel.

This half-day program is an essential introduction for solicitors and litigators to what they really need to know to navigate insurance contracts and insurance law generally.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 3 hours (this course will contain a minimum of .5 hours pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management). Please note: The CPD hours of the rebroadcast will either meet or exceed the CPD hours of the original live webinar course.
