Who should attend: Lawyers practising in the area of wills, estates and trusts. This course may also be of interest to lawyers practising in the area of family law.

Blended families are increasingly the norm and have very unique planning aims and requirements. There are a variety of tools available to lawyers to assist in planning for these families.

This course will look at the available tools, the risks involved in the use of each one, and the considerations involved with choosing the appropriate tools for your clients.

After taking this program, you will:

  • understand when to use a will or a trust
  • be up to date on wills variation issues
  • gain knowledge of family home considerations and incapacity planning
  • have up to date information on agreements between spouses, separation issues, and duties between spouses
  • be aware of specific tax issues
