With the COVID-19 pandemic, real estate practice has had to do a re-set with respect to procedures and practice. It comes down to fundamentals such as: Does the vendor have to appear in person to execute transfer documentation? In this course, our expert faculty will examine the changes to conveyancing practice and procedure and their implications for file management.
The emphasis will be on practical practice matters—what you need to know and need to do to stay out of trouble. (You have enough on your mind dealing with a virus.)
Let our expert panel help you navigate the new world of conveyancing practice during a world pandemic!
Topics will include:
- execution of documents (affidavits, transfers, mortgages, powers of attorney, statutory declarations)
- use of videoconferencing, electronic signatures
- funds transfers: paper versus eTransfers
- client relations: inform, explain, advise—then take instructions
- office set up considerations: Plexiglass screens
