With the COVID-19 pandemic, real estate practice has had to do a re-set with respect to procedures and practice. It comes down to fundamentals such as: Does the vendor have to appear in person to execute transfer documentation? In this course, our expert faculty will examine the changes to conveyancing practice and procedure and their implications for file management.

The emphasis will be on practical practice matterswhat you need to know and need to do to stay out of trouble. (You have enough on your mind dealing with a virus.)

  • execution of documents (affidavits, transfers, mortgages, powers of attorney, statutory declarations)
  • use of videoconferencing, electronic signatures
  • funds transfers: paper versus eTransfers
  • client relations: inform, explain, advisethen take instructions
  • office set up considerations: Plexiglass screens

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1 hour (a minimum of .5 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
