About the Authors
Lyle Harris, KC was called to the BC bar in 1976. He has been practicing continuously for over 45 years since that time. Lyle has conducted over 100 civil trials and appeals, including a number of jury trials, in the BC Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
Lyle's trial and appellate experience includes motor vehicle, other personal injury, insurance, and occupiers' liability claims for plaintiffs, insured defendants, and insurance companies.
Lyle has chaired or presented at numerous continuing legal education courses and presentations for the CBA, Trial Lawyers Association of BC, and CLEBC. In 2016, he was recognized by CLEBC as one of its 16 most prolific contributors of the past 20 years, with more than 50 contributions.
Jennifer Brun, KC is a director of Harris & Brun Law Corporation. She represents her clients in both litigation and regulatory contexts before all levels of court in BC, and before governing professional bodies, and administrative tribunals. Jennifer's advice is routinely sought on insurance matters regarding litigation, coverage, subrogation, audits, policy wordings, and risk management.
Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Master of Laws specializing in civil litigation and dispute resolution. She also completed a judicial law clerkship at the Supreme Court of BC. Jennifer served as president of the Young Lawyers—CBA in 2012-13, and as CBA (BC Branch) president in 2020-21.
She is a regular contributor and presenter for continuing professional development seminars both provincially and nationally, focusing on civil litigation, personal injury, and health law content.
