Learning level: Fundamental
Labour Law 101 offers a practical introduction to the legal framework governing workplace relationships. The course starts by distinguishing between employment law and labour law and discussing the applicable legislation to consider when labour law issues arise. Participants will examine how the employment relationship is established and the legal principles that underpin it. This course also considers the issues that arise during the labour relationship, equipping participants with a framework for identifying and addressing common workplace challenges.
Throughout the course, practice-oriented insights and examples will connect legal principles to the day-to-day realities of labour law. By combining foundational legal knowledge with practical guidance, the course aims to help participants approach labour law matters with greater confidence and effectiveness.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 4 hours (this course does not contain professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
