Who should attend: Lawyers, mediators, investigators, and other professionals working in the employment and workplace fields
Learning level: All levels
Lawyers, mediators, investigators, and others in the employment field recognize that workplace conflict is shifting in significant ways. Research shows that conflicts are increasing in complexity, volume, and intensity across multiple sectors.
What do these changes mean for employment lawyers, workplace conflict resolution professionals, and investigators? And what additional knowledge and skills will better equip professionals to support employers and employees in managing conflict?
This half-day course will include sessions on the changing nature of workplace conflict and its practice implications, trauma-informed approaches to informal resolution of harassment and bullying, and when to start with mediation rather than investigation.
This course counts for 3 ADR CPD hours.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 3 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
Course Chairs
Sharon Sutherland, RRM — Executive Director, Mediate BC, Vancouver
