Learning level: All levels

Join experienced panels of arbitration counsel and arbitrators as they take on the tough foundational and emerging issues surrounding arbitration.

The first half of the program will examine arbitration foundations and will consider fundamental issues, such as the differences and advantages of arbitration when compared with litigation, the drafting of arbitration agreements, whether to involve an arbitral institution, and financial considerations arising in arbitration.

The second half of the program shifts to advanced issues surrounding arbitration itself, such as a party that does not want to engage in arbitration, issues around the scope of what can be arbitrated, the role of summary resolution, and last but not least, the place of appeals in the arbitral framework.

This is CLEBC's comprehensive program on commercial arbitration.

Whether you are new to arbitration or a seasoned pro, this content-packed course will be of critical interest to you.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
