The Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) opened its virtual doors to applicants as Canada's first online tribunal in July 2016. In the last 10 years, what began as a small tribunal focused on strata property disputes has evolved into a dynamic institution that now also handles a wide range of matters, including small claims, motor vehicle accident disputes, and claims under the Intimate Images Protection Act, among others. Today, with a growing team of over 100 dedicated professionals, the CRT continues to lead the way in online dispute resolution, transforming how Canadians resolve legal disputes.
Whether you are already familiar with the CRT's dispute resolution process or are new to it and seeking to better serve your clients, this course has something for everyone. Gain unique insights into how the CRT has transformed the landscape of dispute resolution in Canada and learn how you can leverage its tools for the most effective outcomes.
At this course, you will learn about:
- the CRT's journey: from its early days adjudicating only strata property disputes to its current breadth, hear about the CRT’s evolution and its impact on access to justice
- what's next?: understand the CRT's future, including upcoming changes and developments based on the findings of the CRT's recent organizational review
- practical tips: join Shelley Lopez, CRT Chair, and Kate Campbell, Vice Chair of Quality Assurance, as they share insider knowledge on navigating the CRT's dispute resolution process. Learn the dos and don'ts directly from the decision-makers themselves and gain valuable guidance you can use to help your clients achieve the most timely and fair resolutions possible
This course is designed for anyone who uses the CRT's dispute resolution process and those who are looking to understand how the tribunal operates. Whether you are representing clients, dealing with a personal dispute, or simply curious about the CRT’s impact on the justice system, you will walk away with practical tips and knowledge to help you resolve your CRT disputes more effectively.
Join us for this special lunchtime session and celebrate 10 years of accessible, online dispute resolution with the CRT!
