About the Course Chairs
A graduate of UBC law School, Madam Justice Murray worked almost her whole career as Crown counsel. She received her QC designation in 2008 and was appointed to the BC Supreme Court in October 2016.
During her career with the Crown, she prosecuted many serious cases, including the last two Kelly Ellard cases and the Surrey Six.
She has been involved in teaching advocacy to Crown counsel around the province and through CLEBC for the past 15 years.
Andrew Nathanson, KC focuses on complex commercial litigation and white collar crime. He is co-chair of Fasken's Commercial Litigation Group in BC and co-leader of the firm's national White Collar Defence and Investigations group. Andrew is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been ranked as a leading litigator in diverse areas including corporate and commercial litigation, directors and officers liability, securities litigation, public law and criminal defence. In 2022, Benchmark Litigation named Andrew BC Litigator of the Year. In 2023, Best Lawyers in Canada named Andrew Lawyer of the Year in BC for director and officer liability practice and criminal defence.

The Honourable Chief Justice Ronald A. Skolrood — Supreme Court of BC, Vancouver
The Honourable Ron A. Skolrood was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of BC on October 15, 2024. Prior to his appointment, Chief Justice Skolrood was a justice of the Court of Appeal for BC from 2022 to 2024 and a justice of the Supreme Court of BC from 2013 to 2022.
Chief Justice Skolrood earned a BA from the University of Lethbridge in 1983 and an LLB from the University of Victoria in 1986. He clerked for The Honourable Mr. Justice William McIntyre of the Supreme Court of Canada in 1986-87, then completed an LLM at the University of Cambridge in 1989. He was admitted to the BC bar in 1988 and to the bar of the Northwest Territories in 2010. He was appointed King's Counsel in 2012.
Prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Skolrood practiced with the law firm of Lawson Lundell LLP in Vancouver since 1987. His main areas of practice were civil, commercial, and administrative litigation.
