About the Course Chairs
Roger Tangry is a partner at Lindsay LLP in Vancouver. He is a senior litigator with trial experience at all levels of court in BC and the Northwest Territories. Roger has a diverse insurance litigation practice including property and liability, bodily injury, subrogation recovery, insurance coverage and in specialized areas including transportation, maritime, occupiers liability, construction, fire origin and cause, and other types of commercial claims. Roger also has experience in other areas of commercial litigation including debtor-creditor, builders lien, and product liability.

Prior to becoming a commercial litigator, Roger worked in air & ocean logistics for more than 10 years managing a cargo marketing company that specialized in providing cargo management solutions to international airlines and freight forwarders across North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. 

Roger brings a business-minded approach to handling his files and managing client relationships. He strives to find cost-effective and timely solutions to advance his client's interests by taking a practical approach to problem solving and diffusing acrimonious disputes.

Scott Urquhart is senior legal counsel with Intact Legal Claims in Vancouver. He is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer, most recently obtaining a clarification from the BC Court of Appeal on the standard of care applicable to sports injury claims. He joined Intact in 2021 after many years in private practice where he acted for insurers, policy holders, private companies, and individuals at all levels of BC's courts and before the BC Human Rights Tribunal and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal. 

Scott's practice includes complex insurance coverage matters, multi-party construction/property disputes, and fraud litigation. His experience includes a broad range of specialty lines claims including E&O where he has represented dentists, architects, engineers and other lawyers, D&O, employment, marine, builders lien claims, and transportation including aviation.

Scott brings a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience to his files, demonstrating an understanding of the complex landscape of coverage and casualty claims. His calm and competent approach towards his clients' matters, providing thorough and appropriate advice and analysis, guides them towards resolution, either through negotiation, formal mediation, or judgment.
