Who should attend: Employment lawyers, in-house counsel, and human resources professionals

Learning level: All levels

With an agenda curated from your submissions, leading practitioners and your colleagues will explore emerging issues in employment law and update you on the core topics. Employment relationships are evolving at a rapid pace and so is the law as a result of technology, globalization, and increasing diversity in the workplace.

This year, Justice Alan M. Ross will join us on Day 1 of the conference as our featured lunch speaker. He will provide a view from the bench and discuss common pitfalls and best practices for employment lawyers when appearing before the court.

At this conference, you will also:

  • learn about recent developments in core topics such as litigating workplace claims in multiple forums, legal obligations when quitting, and FOI in and outside the workplace
  • get up to date on topics such temporary foreign workers, recent BC Labour Code updates, neurodiversity in the workplace, and First Nations as employers
  • get your annual employment case law update
  • and more

This conference is your annual must-attend event where you can network with your colleagues while completing all of your Law Society continuing professional development requirements for the year.

Join us on Day 1, Day 2, or both days for a discussion of these important issues.

Conference attendees (both attending in person or online) are invited to join faculty at the conclusion of Day 1 of the conference (Pan Pacific Hotel). A special thank you to Cooperwilliams Truman & Ito LLP for hosting this reception.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 12.5 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 2 hours pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
