Being able to understand business valuation reports is a critical skill to have in order to give effective advice to your clients.

At this introductory course, a Chartered Business Valuator experienced in working with lawyers will teach you basic valuation concepts and how to review business valuation reports. By registering for this course, you will increase your confidence in your ability to review business valuation reports, explain the reports to your clients, and use them to benefit your negotiations or case.

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the requirements to obtain and retain the Chartered Business Valuator ("CBV") designation from the CBV Institute
  • recognize the different types of valuation reports that can be prepared by CBVs and the reliance that can be placed on each
  • recognize the reasons for performing a business valuation
  • comprehend the basic valuation approaches
  • know areas you should be aware of, or alert to, when reviewing a business valuation report
