Who should attend: Lawyers who practice in the area of municipal, real estate, and administrative law. This course may also be of interest to municipal officers, planners, developers, and those who practice in construction law.

Learning level: Intermediate

Planning and development crosses multiple areas of legal practice—municipal, administrative, and real estate. In this course, we will tie all of these aspects together to give you a comprehensive understanding of planning and development.

About the Course Chair
Alyssa is a partner at Young, Anderson. She is a solicitor as well as a litigator and has appeared in all levels of court in BC for local governments. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Honours Environmental Biology and the University of Victoria Faculty of Law.

Alyssa has been a guest lecturer at the UBC Faculty of Law in municipal law, the UVic Faculty of Law in administrative law and the UBC School of Community and Regional Planning in planning and land use law as well as various seminars and courses on municipal and land use law. She was on the executive of the CBA National Municipal Law Subsection. She also updates the chapter on Development Rights in CLEBC's Real Estate Development Practice Manual.
