When a right has been found to have been infringed and causation has been established—the question turns to that of remedies: the law of damages.
CLEBC is proud to present the Honourable Mr. Justice Russell Brown of the Supreme Court of Canada as our keynote speaker.
The law of damages is a complex subject, combining overarching principles with specific elements relating to the nature and type of loss sustained and expectations on how to balance the interests of the parties against the backdrop of the expectations of commerce and society.
This comprehensive course will review first principles, current trends and will examine specific areas within the law of damages where there are noteworthy elements. The content will be of interest to all levels of civil litigators practising in or pivoting to the areas of employment, class actions, medical malpractice, sexual abuse litigation, and privacy law.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 5.5 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management). Please note: The CPD hours of the rebroadcast will either meet or exceed the CPD hours of the original live webinar course.
