About the Course Chairs
Kimberley Santerre was called to the BC bar in 2011. With a litigation and dispute resolution practice focused on family law, Kimberley is experienced in all matters affecting families in BC, including property division, spousal support, child support, parenting, custody, guardianship, relocation and mobility, and parenting time. Kimberley regularly appears in both trial courts on behalf of clients. Prior to joining Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP, Kimberley articled and practiced in civil and commercial litigation at a boutique litigation firm in Kelowna.
Kimberley has co-authored papers about property division and use of expert reports in family litigation. She was a course presenter at the Trial Lawyers Association of BC's Family Law Practice and Procedure 2015 conference and CLEBC's The New Family File: Complex Issues for Paralegals conference. She has presented at CBA subsection meetings, most recently about spousal support. In 2020, Kimberley was an adjunct professor at the Peter J. Allard School of Law at UBC and taught the Family Law class. Kimberley volunteers for Access Pro Bono and the CBA. She has served as the chair, treasurer and secretary of the CBA Family Law (Vancouver) Subsection.
Jasmeet Wahid is a Partner with Kahn Zack Ehrlich Lithwick LLP in Richmond, BC. Jasmeet's family law practice is diverse and interesting, often including complex financial and parenting issues. Her practice also includes unique issues in the areas of adoption, reproductive technology, child protection, and First Nations concerns.
Jasmeet appears in all levels of court and has argued many significant cases, including appeals concerning: i) the posthumous use of reproductive material and the statutory interpretation of the consent provisions of the Assisted Human Reproduction Act [L.T. v. D.T. Estate, 2020 BCCA 328]; ii) a child's consent to gender affirming care, family violence and remedies under the Family Law Act [A.B. v. C.D., 2020 BCCA 11 & 2019 BCCA 297]; iii) the adoption of a First Nations child and the statutory scheme of the Adoption Act [M.M. v. T.B., 2017 BCCA 296, application for leave to SCC dismissed]; and, iv) the issue of variation of spousal support and whether re-partnering is a material change of circumstances [Morigeau v. Moorey, 2015 BCCA 160].
