Get started on training to become a Family Law Mediator

Thursday and Friday, September 23 and 24, 2021

Please note: This course will not be added to Courses on Demand.  Courses involving professional speakers and skills-based workshops generally do not get added to Courses on Demand.

Who should attend: All those wishing to enhance their insight and skills in negotiation and mediation. This course is essential for new family mediators and those attending mediations as counsel.

Learning level: Fundamental

This course will introduce participants to the theory and practice of negotiation and mediation. It will also give participants an understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute resolution. For those wishing to become Family Law Mediators under the Family Law Act this is the first course in our 80-hour curriculum.

This course will count for 16 hours of mediation training and will include exercises and role-playing in both negotiation and mediation settings.

Please note: This course is offered remotely through a Zoom platform. A device equipped with a camera and microphone will be required to participate.

*DISCLAIMER: In order to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course, learners are required to participate fully in the course. "Full participation" is in the faculty's sole discretion. Activities such as reading the paper, watching videos on the computer, not being present, engaging in phone calls, and disrupting the class with irrelevant activities will demonstrate a lack of full participation.
