About the Course Chairs
Richard Lindsay, QC is a mediator/arbitrator with Cornish Margolis Boyd in Vancouver. His practice for over 40 years focused on general insurance litigation, with particular emphasis on products liability, engineering, energy, and fire related matters. Richard's areas of specific interest include complex multi-party litigation, construction, professional liability, subrogation, fraudulent claims, coverage, and catastrophic injury cases with significant liability issues. Richard has extensive trial and appellate court experience.
Appointed Queen's Counsel in 2003, Richard was admitted to the BC bar in 1978. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in 1971 from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Laws in 1977 from UBC. His pre-law experience was as a Civil Engineer.
Richard is past president of the Canadian Defence Lawyers which presented him with the celebrated Lee Samis Award of Excellence in 2006. He has served on the Hearing Panel pool for the Law Society of BC. He is a past Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
Richard has chaired CLEBC's Insurance Law Conference since time immemorable.
Gregory Tucker, QC practises commercial litigation, specializing in complex litigation, insurance and maritime matters, and insolvency.
Mr. Tucker's insurance practice includes coverage, defence and subrogation. He advises on a range of coverage matters including first party property, casualty, marine, directors and officers, environmental impairment-related matters, reinsurance and primary/excess disputes. In connection with subrogation and defence, Mr. Tucker's practice has included a wide range of matters including maritime matters, products liability, social/commercial host liability, professional negligence, general negligence and contract disputes.
Mr. Tucker has acted in various matters relating to insolvency, enforcement of contractual/intellectual property rights, injunctive and similar relief, including Mareva injunctions and Anton Pillar orders. In connection with Anton Pillar orders, Mr. Tucker has acted for applicants, respondents, and as an independent supervising solicitor.
Mr. Tucker has acted as arbitrator/appraiser in insurance disputes.
Mr. Tucker attends regularly to chambers matters. He is co-author of the Interlocutory Applications section of the British Columbia Civil Trial Handbook and has lectured and written on various civil procedure matters, including summary trial.
Mr. Tucker has acted in a range of other matters, including shareholder disputes, broadcast, and other media-related issues.
Mr. Tucker has substantial experience at the Trial and Apellate Court levels in the BC Superior Courts and Federal Courts and has appeared in the Supreme Court of Canada.
