Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced
Human rights law goes beyond the scope of employment law practice and is constantly evolving. Over the course of two days, you will explore a comprehensive range of human rights law topics presented by diverse speakers. This conference will include the ever-popular annual case law update, judicial review update, and ethics fact patterns. You will walk away with a substantive look at current trends and practical issues to meet the increasingly complex and sophisticated matters arising in this area. At this conference, you will:
- find out about hot topics on COVID-19 and human rights law issues
- learn about best practices for dealing with unconscious bias and racism in the workplace
- get an update from the BC Human Rights Commission and find out how we can decolonize human rights and provide Indigenous people with better access with human rights issues
- discuss with senior counsel difficult ethical issues that human rights law practitioners face
- learn about the latest human rights cases before the BC HR Tribunal, BC Supreme Court, BC Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada
Join us on Day 1, Day 2 or both days for a discussion of these important issues.
