About the Course Chair
Richard Lindsay, QC is a founding partner of Lindsay LLP, Vancouver. His practice focuses on general insurance litigation, with particular emphasis on products liability, engineering, energy, and fire related matters. Richard's areas of specific interest include complex multi-party litigation, subrogation, fraudulent claims, coverage, and catastrophic injury cases with significant liability issues. In select cases, he will act as a mediator or arbitrator. As a well known insurance lawyer in Canada, Richard has extensive trial and appellate court experience, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

About the Faculty
Andrew Epstein has been providing legal advice to the insurance industry and self-insured corporations for more than 25 years.
He has extensive experience in multi-party litigation, including construction disputes; catastrophic bodily injury claims; subrogation of property loss claims; and coverage disputes, including defending coverage opinions in court. He has also handled claims relating to class actions, professional liability and directors' and officers' liability.
Andrew is a frequent and popular speaker at legal and insurance industry conferences and author of numerous papers of interest to the industry.
With a mixture of practical experience, a common sense approach and a deep knowledge of the relevant law, Andrew is ready to assist you with whatever your legal needs require.
Nikta Shirazian is a civil litigator and practices primarily in the area of insurance law. She has gained experience in insurance defence claims relating to construction law, property damage, product liability, professional liability, motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury. Nikta also maintains a subrogation practice, particularly relating to property damage, product liability, and construction law. Nikta has appeared before all levels of court in BC.
Nikta also has a keen interest in the law of privacy, particularly in relation to privacy torts and legislation pertaining to safe handling and non-disclosure of information. She has presented numerous times on these topics and co-authored an article with Dr. Chris Hunt titled, "Canada’s Statutory Privacy Torts in Commonwealth Perspective" which was published in the Oxford University Comparative Law Forum. Nikta recently completed the CLM level 1 Cyber Claims course on cyber security, data breaches and compliance with regulatory frameworks in Canada, United States and Europe.
Nikta maintains a very client-focused practice and often presents at client seminars on various insurance related subjects as well as new developments in the law.
Nikta joined Lindsay LLP as an articled student after completing her law degree at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC. Nikta stayed on with the firm as an associate following the completion of her articles. She was called to the bar in 2017. While studying law full time, Nikta served as a research assistant to five professors and a senior editor for the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law. She also earned a place on the Dean’s List for academic achievement.
Outside of work, Nikta loves to travel and explore new cities. Her favourite travel destinations include Napa Valley, US; Osaka, Japan; and London, England.
