Who should attend: Legal support staff working in a real estate practice; this course may also be of interest to junior lawyers, junior paralegals, and other conveyancing professionals who are new to this practice area

Learning level: Fundamental

The conveyancing process involves so many details that it can be overwhelming to keep track of all the tasks you need to complete. This course will walk you through a residential conveyance and explain to you practice points to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible. You will be provided with all the documents used in a typical conveyance as well as invaluable checklists, sample forms, and practical demonstrations. A diverse and experienced faculty of lawyers, senior conveyancers, and government representatives will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. You will increase confidence and speed in your ability to perform conveyancing tasks.

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • have a clear understanding of the entire conveyancing process
  • appreciate the legal reasons behind the technical steps involved in a conveyance
  • handle unusual circumstances that can occur in a conveyance
  • avoid the most common errors that arise in conveyances

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
