Who should attend: Family law paralegals and support staff with a minimum of three years practicing in family law. This course may also be of interest to junior family law lawyers or lawyers transitioning to a family practice.

Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced

Don't miss this jam packed day that's sure to provide you with everything you need to excel as an essential and indispensable team member in your family law practice! This course is designed for those who have worked in the family law area for at least three years. You will hear from experienced practitioners, members of the judiciary, and a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Topics will include preparing affidavits, the new Divorce Act, social media as evidence, working with difficult clients and lawyers, the new Provincial Court Rules, a perspective on effective trial preparation from a retired Supreme Court of BC Justice, and scott schedules (including excluded property and F8's). For those attending in person, the networking lunch will be a great opportunity to talk to your peers and our distinguished speakers and get insight on issues you may be struggling with.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
