Summer Series 2020
Friday, July 24, 2020
9:00 am – 4:00 pm via webinar
Who should attend: Civil litigators
Learning level: Intermediate
This course is aimed at implementing available innovative procedures to improve the conduct of trials and other hearings to achieve more timely, cost-effective, and high quality results for clients.
You will hear the results of recent experiences from near and far with different procedures and be equipped to choose from a menu of choices to best suit your particular client's needs. You will also hear how to negotiate new ground rules for a case and how to consider what will be ordered by the court.
We will focus on the building blocks of any trial: the pre-trial phase and especially document review, production and proof; the presentation of evidence, the obtaining and proof of expert opinion, and the presentation of submissions.
By the end of the course you will better understand the pros and cons of written evidence in chief, depositions, agreed facts, hard time limits, and how to use recent technologies in coordination with effective procedures to go faster and cost less.
This will address matters big and small—but above all, be prepared to re-think how you manage your litigation files!
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
