Who should attend: Lawyers who seek a comprehensive introduction to IP including corporate counsel, corporate solicitors, and civil litigators. This course may also be of interest to litigation counsel seeking an update on current issues and strategies in IP litigation.

Learning level: All

Different forms of intellectual property dictate different strategies for litigation. When an IP issue arises, will you be prepared to give your clients the litigation advice they need?

At this course, you will gain a solid grounding that will permit you to evaluate, advise on, and manage an IP claim. You will learn the essential characteristics of the different classes of IP and their implications for litigation. You will come away from this course with appropriate litigation strategies to protect your client’s IP interest and to avoid pitfalls in managing these IP files.

At this course you will learn:

  • the different classes of intellectual property and the key issues in each
  • valuable practice pointers as they apply to the various classes of IP
  • current and emerging issues in IP litigation and what they entail for your practice

Be ready to protect your client's IP interests!

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
