Learning level: All levels

Wondering about the impact of the recently enacted Speculation and Vacancy Tax Act? Join us for a focused, 1-hour course over lunch to learn about the key issues arising from the BC government’s tax measure intended to slow the housing market in certain urban areas. Experienced faculty will guide you through the complex web of rules in the legislation.

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the general structure, scheme, and application of the Speculation and Vacancy Tax
  • identify when the tax will be imposed and when the various exemptions apply; and
  • navigate some of the interpretive rules that lead in some cases to unexpected results

Join us today to get a better understanding of how this tax will affect your real estate transactions, clients, and practice.

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1 hour (this course will not include any hours of professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management. )
