Subdivision is a complex process that requires special expertise and involves many overlapping areas of law, including municipal, administrative, and real estate. Benefit from the perspective of local government lawyers as they guide you through the procedures, bylaws, and agreements involved. You will also hear from an approving officer to get his perspective on challenges throughout the process.

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • navigate the subdivision application process with understanding of the approving officer’s role
  • identify when land dedications can be required and how dedication can be achieved
  • distinguish the different types of stratas and know when approvals are required
  • understand latecomer agreements, and when excess and extended services are required
  • know when and how to apply for judicial review of a subdivision decision
