Are you aware of the malpractice pitfalls in the electronic practice of law? Join us to learn about security vulnerabilities related to documents, emails, and e-discovery. You will explore the potential nightmare of metadata (hidden data) that could reveal information detrimental to your client, or to your relationship with your client. Understand what metadata is, how it works, and how it can get you into a world of trouble. Educate yourself on the easy precautions that will protect you and your firm from metadata tripping you into malpractice, and also how to advise your clients to protect themselves from the metadata trap as well. Finally, you will learn how to properly delete client data, assign passwords, and dispose of computer equipment while protecting client privacy.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 2 hours (a minimum of 2 hours involving professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
