Who should attend: Lawyers practicing in the area of family law

Learning level: Intermediate

Dealing with parents and parenting issues can be a challenging part of family law practice. This course will give you valuable tools and tips for navigating your clients through the minefield of parenting disputes. In this second part of the Hot Topics in Family Law series, you will focus on robust agreements, management of difficult clients, and the latest on relocations.

In addition to learning from an outstanding faculty of lawyers, you will also hear outside perspectives from the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program and attending police, and increase your knowledge of cultural issues in parenting. You will leave the day armed with real help for real cases.

After taking this program, you will:

  • understand the proposed changes to the Divorce Act
  • receive tips on how to draft enforceable parenting agreements that are less susceptible to challenges
  • gain insights about the effective management of difficult clients in parenting disputes
  • understand the concept of alienation
  • be aware of the latest cases, developments, and trends in relocation
