Jump Start on CPD 2018
Friday, March 9, 2018
9:00 am – 12:00 pm via webinar
(Original date: October 19, 2017)
Who should attend: Lawyers who want to be deal makers, not deal breakers; those who want to learn how to create agreements that are an effortless reading experience while still reflecting the critical terms of a deal.
Learning level: All levels
When the client says with relief: "We've got a deal", the lawyer usually then says with anxiety: "Now the hard part begins." Contract drafting can be a challenge, both conceptually and technically. In this three-hour program, Stuart Teicher, Esq. discusses how to transform ideas into clauses and how to avoid drafting pitfalls. Learn some tips for creating readable documents that decrease the chance of opening up Pandora's box and increase the chance of closing the deal. In the final hour, Mr. Teicher discusses the ethical implications associated with drafting and its kissing cousin, negotiating.
After taking this course, you will be able to:
- make transactional documents easier to read and more effective using tools that help deals reach closing
- navigate and make use of the critical "pre-writing" process
- utilize a step-by-step approach to drafting better documents
- understand critical ethics issues in drafting and negotiation
Here's what past registrants had to say:
"Outstanding. Tricked me into thinking I was being entertained, instead of learning drafting/writing skills. Funny!"
"Stuart knows how to keep the audience engaged! The three hours were illuminating, enlightening, and informative!"
