(Original course: Friday, April 15, 2016)

Who should attend: Lawyers who practice in the area of estate planning and estate administration.

Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate

Whether you are assisting a client with estate planning or advising an executor of his or her duties in an estate administration, you will come face to face with a multitude of tax issues. To properly advise clients, it is important to have a fundamental understanding of the basic tax rules which are integral to your practice area. In addition, there have been a number of changes, and pending changes, in this practice area.

This course will break down the pertinent tax laws into simple principles for you to understand—topics will include basic tax exemptions, the attribution rules, taxation of estates, charitable giving, and much more! With this basic framework, you will be equipped to identify and warn your clients of potential issues and know when it is time to seek expert advice.

After taking this course you will...

  • have an understanding of the basic tax rules that apply to an estate planning practice
  • be up-to-date on the legislative changes in this area
  • be able to advise your clients on the tax implications of their estate plans and know when to seek expert advice

This course will be paired with Wealth Preservation and Succession for the Family Enterprise on Friday, May 6, 2016. Take both courses and SAVE! See below for special pricing, and click here to register for both.
