Who should attend: Lawyers specializing in business immigration law or those who wish to develop a practice in this area. The course may also be of interest to corporate/commercial lawyers, employment lawyers, in-house counsel, and human resource professionals.

Learning level: All levels

Learn about approaches and strategies immigration practitioners are employing as the federal and provincial governments continue to support temporary and permanent immigration pathways, including introducing progressive temporary public policies, while still facing processing inventories for certain pathways overseas and inland.

In some ways, immigration practice has improved, and in other ways, it has become more challenging. Learn how to utilize the improvements and address the challenges practically and effectively.

After taking this program, you will:

  • be able to advise your clients on GTS LMIAs
  • have up-to-date information on BC PNPs
  • be aware of claims made to the Law Society and self-reporting to LIF
  • gain knowledge regarding student compliance
  • have up-to-date information on employer compliance

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management).
