Who should attend: This course is suitable for managing partners, senior leaders, and professional management—anyone who manages a law firm.
Learning level: All levels
The times, they are a changin' … and not in a good way. Law firms are dealing with an unusual amount of hardships at the moment, including:
- a global pandemic
- the decline of PI, one of the most profitable areas of practice
- retirement of the largest number of senior lawyers in our lifetime
- associates pushing for better comp and fewer hours of work
- an unprecedented lack of hard-working, well-trained staff
Yet some of the greatest advancements in the world have occurred as a result of challenging conditions, when individuals, company leaders and politicians have been forced to consider alternative pathways. Hardship can be the catalyst for business system changes that bring greater efficiency and profitability.
In this session, law firm business strategist, Heather Gray-Grant identifies specific areas that—due to changing conditions—are ripe for evolution. "Many parts of the law firm business model are expensive and antiquated," explains Heather. "It's clear that some things need to change. The question is whether a law firm is on the bus, or in front of it."
Heather is a law firm strategist, marketing expert, and executive coach. She is a prolific writer and frequent presenter on law firm strategy and management. Now semi-retired, she consults for small to medium-sized firms, primarily in Metro Vancouver.
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 1.5 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 1.5 hours pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management). Please note: The CPD hours of the rebroadcast will either meet or exceed the CPD hours of the original live webinar course.
