Who should attend: Lawyers practicing in the area of professional regulation including those that act for professionals before their governing body and those acting on behalf of professional regulatory bodies. This course will also be of interest to registrars, members of registration, complaint, hearing, and discipline committees, investigation officers, and other staff members of self-governing bodies.

Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced

In matters regarding self-governing professions, the practices, procedures and rules are unique and frequently changing. Protecting the public interest and maintaining the profession's integrity and credibility have to be balanced with the individual's interest in his or her livelihood, reputation, and ability to practice effectively. Learn about the latest developments and the most critical and complex issues facing self-regulating bodies. 

After taking this program, you will:

  • know the most up to date practices, procedures, cases and rules
  • be aware of the most recent trends and cases in human rights and sexual misconduct
  • gain information on the regulation of regulators

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 5 hours (a minimum of 1 hour pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management). Please note: The CPD hours of the rebroadcast will either meet or exceed the CPD hours of the original live webinar course.
