Who should attend: Labour and management lawyers, arbitrators and other adjudicators, union representatives, labour relations and human resources practitioners, and all others interested in labour relations topics

Learning level: Fundamental/Intermediate

Whether you are on the management or union side, understanding the perspective of the other is key to giving good advice and making good decisions.

Benefit by learning from faculty from both sides of the bargaining table as they provide you with a balanced approach towards key developments and issues in labour law.

This conference will get you up to date on the latest Charter, privacy, human rights, arbitration, Labour Relations Board, and judicial review issues—all in one day.

In addition to the annual Labour Relations Board Update and beloved Labour Case Law Update, this year's course will feature:

  • a lunch panel of industry experts, Lindsie M. Thomson and Steven Rogers, who will share insights about practicing labour law in the K to 12 education sector
  • a discussion of Charter values including when and how to argue them
  • a review of current issues in collective bargaining
  • a discussion of case management and how it might be used more effectively in dealing with disputes

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6.5 hours (this course will contain a minimum of 2 hours pertaining to professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
