With the COVID-19 pandemic, civil litigation has been impacted in a myriad of ways.
For the courts, they have had to work through a shutdown and move to new procedures around the adoption of virtual technology including greater reliance on remote hearing options.
For counsel, they have had to work with technology and new procedures with managing files, communicating with clients and dealing with opposing counsel, and the court registry.
This course will examine a range of topics in substantive law, litigation practice and procedure, client relations and ethics and professionalism in the COVID-19 world of civil litigation.
Learning objectives:
- master your documents with efiling and registry best practices
- effectively manage and present your case in the new world of virtual hearings
- avoid malpractice and missteps in this variable and accelerated practice environment
Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 3 hours (a minimum of .5 hour will involve professional responsibility and ethics, client care and relations, and/or practice management)
