Who should attend: Lawyers practicing in the areas of elder law, family law, and wills, estates, and trusts. This conference may also be of interest to health care professionals, social workers, advocacy groups, financial trustees, and anyone concerned with the rights of older people.

Learning level: Intermediate/Advanced

The Canadian Elder Law Conference is a two-day forum on the law and policy issues impacting older clients, featuring practical skill-based sessions, updates on hot topics, and current research on law and aging-related issues. Elder law is multi-faceted, touching on diverse areas of practice including wills and estates, family law, pensions and benefits, healthcare rights, privacy law, and criminal law.

Expect sessions on topics such as mental capacity, substitute decision making, advance planning, and practical and ethical issues in terms of representation of clients with mental capacity issues. Hear from practice leaders from across the country including lawyers, medical experts, and financial sector professionals.
