About the Course Chairs
Matthew Cooperwilliams is the founder of Cooperwilliams Law. He has more than 30 years' experience with difficult employment, labour and business problems, representing employers, employees and businesses in courts, tribunals and arbitrations across Canada. Matthew previously practiced for two years as a solicitor in London, England, with a major international law firm, and was a partner in the labour and employment group in a national Canadian law firm. He was called to the BC bar in 1988 and admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales in 2001. Matthew has chaired and co-chaired CLEBC's annual Employment Law Conference since 2009, and was an Adjunct Professor of Employment Law at UBC.
With over 15 years of hands-on legal experience and a bold entrepreneurial spirit, Simon Kent is committed to redefining the practice of employment law. A veteran practitioner, he advises senior executives and company leaders. Simon is a creative and strategic thinker with a unique skill for solving complicated workplace puzzles who works with both employers and employees seeking cutting edge solutions to complex legal problems.
