Who should attend: All who advise or work with technology companies in BC and anyone starting or operating technology companies in BC.

Learning level: All levels

In addition to the usual needs of new businesses, tech start-ups have unique business needs with added complexities specific to their industry and size. Legal counsel, in-house counsel, and tech industry experts will join forces at this program to discuss the key legal issues that the tech industry faces, giving the tech and legal industries a window into each other's worlds to facilitate more successful working relationships.

You will learn about:

  • how to address legal issues in the tech industry
  • protecting intellectual property rights
  • funding pathways: financing, debt, and equity
  • tax considerations and implications

Law Society of BC CPD Hours: 6 hours (For Rebroadcasts: a minimum of 1.25 hours will involve aspects of professional responsibility and ethics, client care, and relations, and/or practice management)
