Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Who should attend: Legal support staff working in a real estate practice; the course may also be of interest to junior lawyers, junior paralegals, and other conveyancing professionals who are new to this practice area.

Learning level: Fundamental

This course will use a transactional approach in walking you step-by-step through a residential conveyance, from beginning to end. We will explain the practice points needed to ensure that the entire process goes as smoothly as possible. At the beginning of the day, you will be given all the documents used in a typical conveyance, from a title search, to mortgage instructions, to closing documents. You will refer to those documents throughout the day as you are guided through the procedures involved. The course will include practical demonstrations, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions as the course proceeds.

At this course you will learn...

  • the suggested practice for a conveyance from start to finish
  • the legal reasons behind the technical steps involved in a conveyance
  • how to handle unusual circumstances that can arise in a conveyance
  • the most common errors that arise in a conveyance and how to avoid them
  • the latest information about changes to Property Transfer Tax

Kudos from past participants

"Found it to be a thorough overview of issues that will arise in a conveyance for both purchase and sale..."

"EXCELLENT! I especially enjoyed the wide variety of speakers and their expertise. Practice lessons learned were invaluable and offered some of the best learning (practical knowledge)."
