Everything you always wanted to know
The Family Law Act has brought change not only for family lawyers but also for estate practitioners. This course will help estates practitioners understand the new concepts. In addition to giving you an overview of the division of property under the FLA, this course will discuss trusts under the FLA, when a person becomes or ceases to be a spouse, the types of guardianship appointments that can be made for children (and by whom, when, and how), how to deal with children’s property, and how to identify and deal with the issues that arise when a party to matrimonial litigation dies.

After taking this course you will...

  • be up-to-date on the new concepts under the FLA
  • understand how the FLA impacts your estates practice
  • identify ways that your practice may need to change
